Sin Bar, Nirvana Patio Club, Gurgaon

[Rated: 3.5/5]
As a foodie I keep trying different eating joints throughout the city and at times miss the most obvious of places. I am a member of Nirvana Patio club where we (me and my family) are regular at the swimming pool. Since we were not impressed with our initial visit two years ago to their restaurant called – Platter, we didn’t try their bar.

Few months ago the club launched their bar, interestingly called – ‘Sin’. Yesterday we tried it along with my regular drink partner, Amit Sangwan and the official sponsor – Dushyant Sharma who is getting married soon; no surprise he was our Bali ka Bakra.

The retro-modern look of the bar, comfortable seating with just the right lighting was inviting enough to set our mood for a relaxed evening. Open seating near the pool side and the lawn would have suited us had the mosquitoes not been playing spoil sport. If we kept sitting there, the mosquitoes would have enjoyed their ‘Sin’ while we may have enjoyed ours.
The menu was elaborate but we still tried snacks from both - Sin bar and the Platters restaurant. My favorite Dahi ke Sholey (Rs 125) was crisp from outside and soft and moist inside; just the way it should be. Sweet Chili Nuts (Rs 175) with mix of both cashews and peanuts was garnished with shredded coconut, sweet chili sauce, finely diced onions and green chilies. The quantity was sufficient for all three of us and it would be go well with beer. Each bite of fiery nut doused by chilled beer would make one ask for more.

Veg Kebab Platter
The Veg Tandoori Kebab Platter (Rs 145) had 2 pieces each of Stuffed Mushrooms, Paneer Tikka, Seekh Kebab and stuffed Aloo. Though I like my Seekh Kebab with little bite of peanuts, and we didn’t like the Paneer Tikka which lacked flavors and seasoning, we still found it to be value for money. Along with the well-made mint chutney the Kebabs were still palatable.  Sarson Mahi Tikka (Rs 295; fish tikka in mustard) was well balanced on mustard and cooked to perfection. Chapli Kebab (Rs 155; pan grilled beaten chicken breasts enhanced in black pepper) was an instant hit with us and the taste was further enhanced with the sour cream served along.

Sin bar at Patio club is a great new place to unwind for the club members and their friends. However, club would do well by mentioning the 5% service charge it levies on the menu card. The happy hours till 8pm helped us with one extra on every two we ordered, and it made us happy even more. It looks like the club has a new chef who has made all the difference to the food. I am surely going back to try their restaurant – Platter too.
